New! Aronia melanocarpa 'Galicjanka'

This cultivar came from the Research Institute of Pomology in Albigowa, Poland. This station has been involved in the production of Aronia plants for decades. From it's orchard, this special genotype of Aronia was selected and named 'Galicjanka'. This cultivar is characterized by very heavy production of berries, and the berries ripen simultaneously, which is very important for mechanical harvesting. Aronia melanocarpa 'Viking'

Viking is vigourous, productive variety from Scandinavia. Size of 6-8' high with an equal spread. Some plants have reached 12' x 12'. Viking was selected for the berries, which can be twice the size of regular fruits. Very flavorful & highly productive. Z3

Aronia melanocarpa 'McKenzie'

The cultivar 'McKenzie' was released in 2008, after being cultivated in North Dakota. 'McKenzie' is a winter-hardy shrub which is 6'-8' high with an equal spread. The original plants, established in 1976, have reached heights of 10'-12'. 'McKenzie also has larger than average berries that are 1/2 inch in diameter. Z3
